With Gameball’s potential points display, customers can instantly see the rewards they’ll earn for their cart items before completing their purchase. This engaging feature highlights the value of each purchase, motivating customers to check out and start earning points.

In this article, you will find a guide on how to display the points in the cart simply with no code, enhancing engagement and incentivizing checkouts.

Setup Requirements

  1. Updated Shopify Theme

Your theme must support app blocks. Without this, the Gameball block will not be visible in the editor. Learn More.

  2. Enable Gameball Embed Block

    1. Go to the Shopify Theme Editor
In your Shopify admin, navigate to the Theme Editor.

    2. Activate App Embeds
From the left menu, click on App Embeds, search for "Gameball," and toggle it on.

  3. Activate Loyalty Points Earning

    1. Open Gameball's Dashboard.

    2. Navigate to Loyalty Points, and click on the Earn tab.

    3. Activate the Program by making the toggle Active.

  4. Activate Gameball Program:

In the Gameball dashboard, make sure the toggle at the top-right is activated. Once this is enabled, you’ll be able to add the Gameball block.

Installing the Potential Points in Cart Gameball Block

  1. In Gameball, click Customize under the embedded block card.

  2. You’ll be redirected to Shopify’s theme editor. If not, double-check the pre-requisites.

  3. Sign in to your store through the theme editor to access the customer account template.

  4. In the left sidebar under Template, select Add section > Apps, and search for "Points in Cart."

  5. Select the Points in Cart app block and click Save.

Customizing the Points-in-Cart Block Display

  1. Style Customization

In the Shopify theme editor, select the Potential Points app block to adjust styling options, such as:

    • Background color

    • Padding and radius

    • Icon visibility (show/hide by default)

    • Custom icon upload

    • Text styles (font size, color, bold, italic)

  2. Content & Translation

    • In the Gameball dashboard, go to Widget > Content.

    • In the Embedded Block tab, edit the displayed text as needed and click Save.

Logged-In vs. Guest (Not-Logged-In) Customers

  • Guest Customers: If the customer isn’t logged in, the block will show the potential points they can earn based on default cashback, ignoring levels-based cashback. A login link will also prompt them to sign in to collect rewards. The login link adapts to the customer’s account type:

    • For older accounts, it redirects to login (Email + Password).

    • For new accounts, it redirects to login via Email + OTP.

  • Logged-In Customers: For logged-in customers, the block displays points based on any customized cashback per collection, merchant, or level, giving a tailored view of rewards.

  • Products with No Cashback: If a product offers zero points, this section will automatically hide.

Important Notes

The potential points block will automatically hide if:

  • The Loyalty Points or rewards program is deactivated.

  • The customer is excluded from the rewards program.

  • The Gameball program is deactivated.

  • The product offers 0 loyalty points.

  • The product is excluded from the loyalty-earning rules.

  • Your account is on a plan that doesn’t support this feature.
