As a multi-brand company, you might be facing some difficulties with unifying your customer engagement under one loyalty experience. Gameball has now made that possible with its new Merchant feature.
With Merchant, you can easily create a crossover rewards experience where your players can get cashback points with every purchase they make at any of your brands or stores. They can redeem their cashback balance at a different store, or with a different brand.
They can also get a different cashback value with every purchase they make based on the brand or store they visit.
How does Merchant Feature work?
To understand the fundamentals of the crossover rewards system, you need to know the difference between the two types of redemption processes.
Closed-loop: This means that your players get to redeem directly from your platform. As such, when they are checking out, they can create a coupon discount code by transferring their points to other parties to run the redemption.
Open-loop: The open-loop allows customers to redeem rewards across different channels other than the origin of the points. This is what the merchant feature offers.
A great thing about the Gameball merchant is that while applying an open-loop reward experience, you get to decide whether you want to give the same cashback value across your different stores and brand, or provide a different reward value based on the store or brand. here are two examples for both ways:
Same cashback value
Assuming that you operate from 3 different stores that give back the same cashback value.
A customer buys a product worth $100 from Store A, and based on your configurations they get a 5% cashback equivalent to $5.
A few weeks later, they visit Store B to buy a $20 product. This time they want to use their cashback balance, so they will pay $15 in cash and pay the remaining $5 using their existing points balance.
They then get a 5% cashback for this new purchase, equivalent to $1 which they can, later on, use in any of the stores and so on.
The merchant does not only operates through different stores. If you're a multi-brand company, or you simply have a partnership with other brands and stores, you can use this same system to unify the customer's loyalty experience under one system.
Different cashback value
Assuming that you have 3 different brands, each brand sells a different type of products, for example, brand A sells clothes, brand B sells electronics, and brand C sells furniture.
A customer buys a $50 pair of pants from Brand A, they can get a 3% cashback equivalent to $1.5.
They then went to Brand C to buy a couch worth $300. Brand C gives higher cashback value because they sell products at higher prices, so this time the customer gets a 10% cashback equivalent to $30.
One month later they went to your electronics shop, Brand B, to buy a $75 headset. The customer decides to use their $31.5 cashback points balance on this purchase, leaving them to pay only $43.5 in cash.

To start using the merchant feature, you need to go through two steps:
A. Creating a new merchant for each of your brands/stores on Gameball dashboard.
B. Configuring cashback for each of your brands/stores after it has been recognized by Gameball in step A.
